Who Am I?

Jennifer Cox, Ed.D. received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the American Professional School of Psychology.

Dr. Cox is currently honored to be included as an Adviser and Contributor to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 (DSM5). Dr. Cox was honored with this privilege as 1 of 500 Licensed Professionals Counselors in the United States.

  • EdD in Counseling Studies from American Professional School of Psychology
  • MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University
  • BS in Family Studies and Gerontology at Southern Nazarene University
Prior to entering into private practice, Dr. Cox was employed as an inpatient therapist by Integris Mental Health for 6 years. Prior to working at Integris Health, Dr. Cox was employed at the Parent’s Assistance Center and was involved in the development of the curriculum for therapeutic play groups for children ages 3 to 12. Dr. Cox received a dedication of service award for her work on the curriculum and with the children.

Although Dr. Cox’s primary orientation in psychotherapy is Cognitive Behavioral, she is more eclectic in her style and proficient in many other theories. Although Jennifer works with individuals having various mental health concerns, her specialties are trauma, codependency, and women’s issues. Her other interests include researching complementary and alternative options in psychotherapy and healthcare. Dr. Cox tailors her client’s treatment to meet his or her specific needs. Dr. Cox’s personal strengths are the ability to remain accepting, respectful, and genuine. Dr. Cox was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family of 5, reading, and the outdoors.
